Making Recreation Accessible to All

The Foundation transforms lives through elevating the goals and ideals of the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association.  Founded in 2010, the Foundation had supported initiatives such as the Carolyn Nagle Sensory Room, Dr. William Kelly Resource Library, Hardship Grants, Break Bags, SootheSpace, and has many new projects to come.

Through sponsorships and partnerships, hundreds of fundraising events, individual giving, and more, the Foundation enriches the lives of individuals with disabilities and families and helps them enjoy healthy, active, and fulfilling lives.

Committees of Involvement
  • The Community Outreach Committee will spread FVSRF’s mission by being an ambassador for the Foundation and Association.  Monthly Chamber of Commerce and community events will be posted, and Board of Shining Star members can select which events they would like to attend.
  • The Community Cares Committee supports FVSRA families and staff through various initiatives aimed at enhancing well-being, providing resources, and fostering a supportive environment. The Community Cares committee also provides yearly Therapeutic Recreation Scholarships to future Recreation Specialists.
  • The Community Fundraising Committee assists the Development Coordinator in planning and running fundraising events to effectively support the financial stability and growth of the foundation. Having a diverse committee with varied skills and connections is essential for maximizing fundraising potential-so all talents are welcome and valued.

“The Board of Shining Stars stocked my refrigerator with ready to eat meals after my surgery. The dinners allowed my participant to remain well fed and happy until I was back on my feet. The board is a true blessing to our community”  -An FVSRA Parent
