February is National Therapeutic Recreation Month!
Therapeutic Recreation (TR) changes lives by making recreation accessible and meaningful for individuals of all abilities. Each February, we celebrate National Therapeutic Recreation Month—a time to highlight the impact of recreation therapy and the professionals who make it happen!
What is Therapeutic Recreation?
Therapeutic Recreation uses recreation and leisure to improve physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being. Whether it’s adaptive sports, creative arts, or social programs, TR empowers individuals to reach their goals and enjoy life to the fullest.
Did You Know?
- TR can help reduce stress, improve mobility, and boost confidence.
- It’s used in parks, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and community programs like FVSRA.
- Certified professionals, called CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists), lead these programs to ensure safe and effective experiences.
